Good to Know
Can my real estate agent recommend contractors?
Yes. Agents can share local contractors and service providers they've seen do good work, as long as there's no kickback or referral fee involved and you're free to choose anyone you like. We'll always give you options, not a single name.
What inspections do I need when buying a home in Iowa?
Most buyers start with a whole-home inspection and a radon test, since Iowa has some of the highest radon levels in the country. Rural homes often need a well water test and a septic inspection too. See our Buying page for more.
